The connection between body, mind, and external appearance is unequivocal, and there's no way to separate the parts of a person.

Our mental and physical state will always be reflected in our external appearance.

In macrobiotic studies, there's a strong emphasis on the seasons and providing optimal conditions for the body to enable mental and physical health.

According to Chinese medicine, autumn is the season of the Metal element, characterized by feelings of contraction, introspection, release and letting go, dryness, gathering, and preparation for winter.

The three months of autumn are called "abundance and balance," and it's recommended to go to bed early and wake up early,

to be mindful of the emotional climate influenced by external changes,

to maintain calm and peace of mind.

The climate in autumn is dry, so our diet will be rich in moistening foods, and we will avoid drying foods such as raw onion and raw garlic, for example.

The organ in the body to strengthen during autumn is the lungs.

We will strengthen the body during autumn by adding white foods to our diet such as sesame, oats,

brown rice cooked with more water than usual to moisten it, tahini, almonds, pine nuts, and many more.

We will feel internal dryness on the skin through fine lines and cracked lips, dry eyes, a persistent dry cough, constipation, or anemia. All these conditions are signs to stop and try to refine our diet, our sleep patterns, and our mental state.

Our recommendations for autumn: take a deep breath and enjoy the shedding, which is a sign of renewal. Pamper your skin with your favorite cream, try applying it to damp skin to lock in moisture, and make sure to cleanse your face thoroughly to allow the cream/serum to penetrate and nourish the skin more effectively.
